At itemit, we understand that different users may have different needs and access to devices. Below, we’ve outlined the available options for scanning items.
1. Is Mobile Scanning the Only Way to Scan Asset tags?
No, while itemit mainly uses mobile as it is a popular method, it’s not the only one.
Mobile App Scanning: Users can scan itemit tags using the itemit mobile app with their smartphone’s camera. This is one of the most seamless ways to identify and interact with assets. The itemit app is available on iOS and Android.
Web Portal Scanning: Users without a mobile device can access web.itemit.com on a desktop or laptop. From there, they can use the device’s built-in camera to tag assets.
No Tag Required: itemit tags are not mandatory to use with the system. You can use itemit without itemit tags, simply by searching for the item using our search function
2. Can Users with "Scan Only" Permissions Use the Web Portal?
No. Users who are assigned the Scan Only permission level are restricted from accessing the web portal.
If web access is required, we recommend upgrading the user's permission to View Scan Comment (VSC). This permission level allows users to log in to the web portal and interact with items appropriately.
