Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your itemit account, ensuring that only authorised users can access important asset data. By enabling MFA, you enhance protection against unauthorised access, while disabling it may be useful if you prefer a simpler login process.

Any user, regardless of their role, can enable MFA for their own account – this setting is not restricted and is available to everyone. However, there is also the option to enforce MFA at the workspace level. In this case, only users with the Owner or Admin role have access to manage this setting - it is not available to other roles.

There are two ways to enable/disable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Option 1 :

  1. To access this section, you must have the Owner or Admin role. Click the gear icon in the top right corner to open Settings, then go to Security. From there, eligible roles can manage workspace-level MFA.

  2. Toggle the switch to the on or off position (it will turn red with a checkmark for enabled and grey for disabled).

If enabled, a confirmation message "Workspace updated successfully" will appear at the top of the screen.

  3. If the toggle to enable MFA for the workspace is missing. This is because an Owner or Admin must first enable MFA for their own account before the option becomes available. The required sequence is:

Enable MFA for your own account β†’ Unlock the ability to enable MFA for the workspace.

Option 2:

  1. You can also enable MFA by clicking from your itemit account profile

  2. Toggle the switch to enable MFA (it will turn red with a checkmark to indicate activation and grey if disabled).
